Toyota Plans to Replace 20% of Plastics with Bioplastics

Toyota Motor plans to replace plastics (20% in weight) for its automobiles with bioplastics by 2015.

Toyota first used bioplastics in 2003. The spare tire cover and the floor mat of the Raum were made of a composite based on polylactic acid (PLA) and kenaf (Cellulose fibres).
