• Richard Petty, surnommé « the King », 7 fois champion de 1964 à 1979.
• Dale Earnhardt, 7 fois champion de 1980 à 1994, mort dans le dernier virage des Daytona 500 en 2001. Son fils Dale Earnhardt Jr est aujourd’hui l’un des pilotes les plus populaires, en grande partie du fait de l’aura de son père.
