Back in the nineties, Jay Jay Johanson was quite popular in France. I have never really got into his music though : I thought it was too mellow. Probably interesting, but a little bit boring. When Nina Kinert told me I should have a listen to a guy named Jonathan Johansson, I confess I thought at first it was the same guy. It is actually not : I like J. J. much better than J. J. J.
There might be two families of songs : the ones you wanna dance on and the other ones. En hand i himlen is a little bit special : it can belong to both categories. This is the kind of song you can dance on in a dark basement club, at 5am, when spirits have been phagocytosed your spirit. Or you can just stand still. I have listened to it today on my ipod during a long train trip and it was just perfect : the landscape was scrolling from right to left, as if what was vanishing was lost forever.
You might think I'm insane though. You might see it from a different perspective if you get the lyrics. I don't. My Swedish is not as good as I wish it would be. However, I bet the depressive melancholy of En hand i himlen can touch anyone on earth. Universal music then, and timeless too. While it reminds the eighties, it never sounds cheesy or old. For sure, this song shows that we have a talented artist here, with his own particular universe. I'm looking forward to his next songs.

Dans les années 1990, Jay Jay Johanson était plutôt connu en France. Je n'ai jamais vraiment accroché à sa musique : un peu trop mélo pour moi. Un univers intéressant, mais ennuyeux. J'avoue que lorsque Nina Kinert m'a conseillé d'écouter un mec qui s'appelait Jonathan Johansson, j'ai cru au départ qu'il s'agissait du même type. Il n'en n'est rien. Je préfère J. J. à J. J. J.
Il doit y avoir deux familles de chansons : celles sur lesquelles on peut danser et les autres. En hand i himlen est un peu spéciale : elle appartient aux deux catégories. C'est le genre de morceau sur lequel on peut danser à 5 heures du mat' dans un club perdu, alors que les spiritueux nous ont déjà bien entamé l'esprit. Mais c'est aussi un titre que l'on peut écouter immobile. Cela m'est arrivé aujourd'hui lors d'un long voyage en train : le morceau était diffusé dans mon i-pod tandis que je voyais le paysage défiler de droite à gauche à travers la fenêtre, comme si ce qui venait de disparaître s'évaporait à jamais.
Vous aurez peut-être une vision différentes des choses. Si vous comprenez les paroles, par exemple. Ce n'est pas mon cas. Mon suédois n'est pas aussi bon que j'aimerais. Quoi qu'il en soit, la mélancolie dépressive d' En hand i himlen peut toucher le monde entier. Une musique universelle et aussi intemporelle : si elle évoque le son des années 1980, elle ne tombe jamais dans le kitch. Aucun doute : ce morceau laisse entrevoir un artiste talentueux, avec un vrai univers. J'attends la suite.
