Comme une joie unique
tu es dorénavant donné au coeur —
Inlassablement, tombe,
fontaine mystérieuse.

En hautes gerbes
Elance-toi et retombe —
Et de toutes tes voix
Soudain, d’un coup, tais-toi.

Mais habille-moi toute l’âme
Par la chasuble d’une pensée grave,
Comme du mélèze humide
L’abri frissonnant.

Отныне сердцу дан —
Неутомимо падай,
Таинственный фонтан.

Высокими снопами
Взлетай и упадай
И всеми голосами
Вдруг — сразу умолкай.

Но ризой думы важной
Всю душу мне одень,
Как лиственницы влажно-
Трепещущая сень.

A sole delight
for the heart, from this time on
– mysterious fountain,
fall, and fall, and go on

Fly up like tall sheaves,
blow up, drop down
and let all your voices
stop — suddenly — at once.

But dress my whole soul
in a cloak of grand thought,
flickering like the damp
larch-tree’s canopy.
