Afin de démarrer sous les meilleurs auspices ce cycle concernant Bob Dylan, pouvais-je me permettre d'ignorer cet hymne de rebellion qu'est Blowin' In The Wind ?
Dans ce clip datant de 1963 (année de la chanson) et se trouvant dans le film No Direction Home, vous pourrez observez un Dylan tout jeunot, armé de sa guitare acoustique et de son harmonica, sans autre accompagnement, interpréter cette chanson courte mais admirable, qui sera reprise on ne sait combien de fois (par Peter, Paul & Mary,  Stevie Wonder, Neil Young, Janis Joplin, Elvis Presley, Joan Baez, Katie Melua, Richard Anthony en version française, Carla Bruni - si, si, hélas... -, et des dizaines de youtubeurs). La chanson est extraite du second album de Dylan, le grandiose The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan, album de 1963 contenant tellement de classiques du Barde que ça en devient indécent : Masters Of War, Girl From The North Country, Don't Think Twice It's Alright, A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall, I Shall Be Free.

Blowin' In The Wind est un hymne, n'ayons pas peur de se répéter. En à peine 2,35 minutes, Bob Dylan dit tout sur le malaise d'une génération, face à un gouvernement qui les opprime.
Dylan affirmera avoir composé la chanson en 10 minutes, en s'inspirant d'un air traditionnel que chantaient les esclaves noirs. The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind (la réponse, mon frère, c'est de siffler dans le vent), symbole évident de la constestation.
Avec cette chanson abordant divers problèmes générationnels et incitant à la rebellion pacifiste, Dylan s'inscrit comme le prophète d'une génération, d'un pays en crise (assassinat de JFK, Vietnam qui s'approche).
