The Ting Tings, English duo of indie pop music hits once again the headlines of the electronic music world, with the release of his song "Great DJ" remixed by Calvin Harris. The duo composed of Jules De Martino and Katie White (founded in 2006), was noticed by Fanta and Apple, as its track "Shut Up and Let Me Go" was used for advertising campaigns of these two brands. The Ting Tings - Great Dj (Calvin Harris Remix)Originally from Manchester, this group has literally blown up in England during 2008. Indeed, they first occupied the first place in the UK charts with "That's Not My Name" in May, then it is with their album "We Started Nothing" that they hit once again the top of the chart, for a few weeks. After this explosion, there were other successes. This remix of Calvin Harris should once again strengthen the reputation of our English duo.
"Great DJ" remixed by Calvin Harris, begins with a pop rhythm, slow at the beginning. Quiet pop rock in the spirit with house sample, a place to the voice is largely given. There are too many loops on the vocal to create the track, notably on "The drums” ! The atmosphere, a bit like the one delivered by Cassius "Toop toop" offers very good riffs, that compliment the composition. However, sometimes there is a lack of dynamism.
It is globally a good track that deserves to be heard. Mostly mainstream, the track has some good ideas, with an undeniable groove.

Ce duo composé de Jules De Martino et Katie White (fondé en 2006), s’est fait remarqué par Fanta et Ipod, puisque leur titre « Shut up and let me go » fut utilisé pour des campagnes de publicité de ces deux marques. En effet, ils occupèrent tout d’abord la première place du chart anglais avec « That's Not My Name » en mai, puis c’est avec leur album « We Started Nothing » toujours en 2008 qu’ils se hissent à nouveau à la première place des meilleurs ventes d’album pendant quelques semaines. Après cette explosion, s’en sont suivi d’autres succès. Ce remix de Calvin Harris, devrait donc une fois de plus renforcer la notoriété de notre duo anglais.
« Great Dj » remixé par Calvin Harris, débute d’une façon pop et met un peu de temps à partir. Version assez rock dans l’esprit avec des touches house, une place au vocal est largement donnée. On notera ainsi de nombreuses boucles sur le vocal pour former le track, notamment sur « The drums » ! L’ambiance, un peu à la Cassius « Toop toop », propose de très bon riffs, qui agrémentent la composition. Néanmoins par certains moments le titre manque un peu de punch.
Bon titre dans l’ensemble, le titre mérite d’être écouté pour vous faire votre propre avis. Assez mainstream, le track possède quelques bonnes idées, avec un groove indéniable.
