Sometimes it is great to discover new music, but sometimes too it is even more exciting to rediscover some old ones... Pezzner, an American artist, is the new flagship of the London Freerange Records. This man has already proven him since 2008 on this label including his first EP "Other Lover", and just after that in October 2008 there was the famous "Almost Here" that we will review in the following article. Later, Pezzner produced other goods tracks signed on this label, but also on the Roger Sanchez’s label Strictly Rhythm's and also OM Records ...

This EP comes in three parts as following:

 01. Pezzner - Part 1 (7:50) 2. Pezzner - Part 2 (6:49) >0ins with "Almost Here part 1", which is undoubtedly the album's most brilliant and most successful track of this EP! How to describe a song like that? People will find both deep and shimmering, percussive and smooth ... But the best way to describe it, I would say that it's "Pezzner" style, that’s all! With this indelible touch, our friend from London has given us his knowledge, that looks as nothing else. His style is unique.

Then, "Almost Here part 2" is darker than the previous song. Here, in a chill and slightly techno atmosphere, there is a progressive rise of this musical piece, adjusted by a few strident synth notes, that gives a massive effect!

Then, it is the turn of "Almost Here part 3". This is a dub version of "Almost Here part 1". Not really bad, a little bit less energetic than the two previous tracks let’s say... Nevertheless this version will be easier to be played in a mixed session!

Finally, note that these productions have been playlisted by Shur-I-Kan, Jimpster, Rocco and Justin Martin... Pezzner created too many remixes for Josh Wink, Mark Farina or Mike Monday. An artist that we will follow, especially as a new EP has been scheduled to be released this summer.

Autant il peut être bon de découvrir de nouveaux morceaux, mais il est parfois encore plus excitant d’en redécouvrir certains… Pezzner, un artiste américain est le nouveau fleuron du label londonien Freerange Records. Cet homme a déjà fait ses preuves depuis 2008 sur ce label avec notamment son premier EP « Other Lover », puis juste après en Octobre 2008, avec le fameux « Almost Here » que nous chroniquons ici. Plus tard, Pezzner enchainera de nombreux titres signés sur ce label, mais aussi sur Strictly Rhythm's le label de Roger Sanchez ou encore OM Records…

Cet EP se décline en trois morceaux, ou plutôt en trois parties que voici :

On commence avec « Almost Here part 1 », qui est sans aucune disque ! Comment deep, scintillant, percussif et harmonieux… Mais la meilleure façon de le qualifier resterait à dire que c’est du « Pezzner » tout craché ! C’est avec cette patte indélébile que notre ami londonien  nous a transmit son savoir faire, qui plus est, ne ressemble à rien d’autres tellement son style est unique.

Ensuite, « Almost Here part 2 » se révèle plutôt sombre et plus léger que le morceau précédent. On aime ou on n’aime pas vous me direz vous, mais lorsqu’un morceau est bien adapté à son contexte, il trouvera toute son importance. Et ici, dans une atmosphère chill et très légèrement techno, la montée progressive de ce morceau ajustée par quelques notes de synthé stridents, donnera un effet  garantit !

Puis c’est au tour d’« Almost Here part 3 ». Ce dernier son est une version de « Almost Here part 1 » en mode dub et percu. Très loin d’être mauvais, mais à coté de ces deux autres morceaux, il paraît un peu fade… On notera tout de même qu’en mix, il est plus facile d’enchainer par dessus ce dernier morceau que les deux premiers !

A noter enfin que ces titres ont été playlisté par Shur-I-Kan, Jimpster, Rocco et Justin Martin… Pezzner est aussi à l’origine de nombreux remixes comme ceux pour Josh Wink, Mark Farina ou encore Mike Monday. A artiste à suivre donc, d’autant qu’un nouvel EP est prévu pour sortir cet été.
