C’est cette semaine que démarre officiellement la série dérivée de The Vampire diaries basée sur la famille de vampires originelle. Bien que nous ayons déjà eu un aperçu du pilot dans l’épisode 20 de la saison 4 de TVD, ce premier épisode se veut malgré tout différent. Il sera essentiellement du point de vue d’Elijah, contient des scènes inédites alors que d’autres, bien entendu, ont été supprimées pour donner une identité propre à la série. Cet épisode donnera lieu à des flash-backs qui auront pour but d’éclairer les nouveaux spectateurs sur le passé et les origines de Klaus et de sa famille.

Synopsis:
Klaus Mikaelson, l’hybride vampire-loup-garou originel est de retour dans le vivier surnaturel qu’est le quartier français de La Nouvelle-Orléans – la ville que sa famille a aidé à construire 300 ans plus tôt. Déterminé à aider son frère, Elijah laisse leur sœur Rebekah derrière lui et suit Klaus. Elijah apprend que la belle et rebelle loup-garou Hayley – aventure d’une nuit de Klaus – est tombée entre les mains d’une puissante sorcière nommée Sophie Deveraux. Quand Sophie révèle une nouvelle bouleversante, Elijah réalise que sa famille peut avoir une seconde chance d’humanité et de rédemption. Klaus, cependant, est plus préoccupé par ses retrouvailles avec son ancien protégé, Marcel, un vampire charismatique mais diabolique qui a maintenant un contrôle total sur les habitants surnaturels de la Nouvelle-Orléans. Klaus est déterminé à reprendre ce qui était autrefois à lui – le pouvoir, la ville et sa famille.
