Une semaine après les championnats du monde, le cyclo-cross de Lille est l'occasion de voir un nouveau duel entre Mathieu van der Poel, le nouveau champion du monde et Wout van Aert, le leader du trophée Bpost. Van Aert est en tout cas déjà certains de remporter le classement général. Il pourra célébrer cette victoire à domicile, cette après-midi. Cependant, il est certain que van Aert aura à cœur de l'emporter après une semaine où la réussite n'était pas présente. En effet, après ses déboires de Tabor, van Aert a encore chuté de la semaine à Maldegem.
Mathieu van der Poel, lui, aura sûrement une vue sur la manche finale du superprestige de demain. Un autre coureur à surveiller sera bien entendu Kevin Pauwels, vainqueur mercredi au Parkcross.
Chez les dames, Ellen van Loy possède 1'54" d'avance sur Sanne Cant et devrait donc remporter son premier trophé Bpost. Chez les espoirs, il reste encore du suspens car Laurens Sweeck ne possède que 25 secondes d'avance sur Michael Vanthourenhout.
