Distant Early Warning System. From the Cold War to the Cosmos, edited by Julie Decker, Anchorage Museum, Hirmer Verlag, München, 273 p.
Le livre est d'excellente qualité, solide, parfaitement illustré. 17 auteurs ont réussi à rendre compte de cette aventure, sans doute très chère et inefficace.Andrew McLuhan, le petit fils de Marshall McLuhan, déclare en conclusion : "Marshall McLuhan's thesis is that because the artist senses imminent technological changes, like the DEW Line radar senses missiles on the horizon, they give us warning. With that warning we can either duck and cover, or maybe, just maybe, employ countermeasures". Andrew McLuhan cite également Marshall McLuhan pour conclure :"I think of art, at its most significant, as a DEW Line, a Distant Early Warning system that can always be relied on to tell the old culture what is beginning to happen to it".Voici un beau livre pour réfléchir aux relations des arts avec les technologies.
