I introduced you to the soulful sound of Hal Linton, the latest addition to the Motown Universal roaster, last month on mysoul. Hailing from Barbados, the 26 year old singer/songwriter has recently premiered the video for his debut single "Mind Control". And if the song already sounds quite familiar, with an obvious resemblance to Jazmine Sullivan's 2008 smash "Bust Your Windows", it might just be because Salaam Remi produced both. Le mois dernier, mysoul consacrait un long billet découverte au chanteur Soul/R&B; Hal Linton, nouvelle signature du label Universal Motown aux USA. Pour son premier single, avant la sortie de son album "Return from the Future" que nous devrions découvrir un peu plus tard cette année, cet auteur/compositeur originaire de La Barbade chasse sur des terres très familières, celles en l'occurence de Jazmine Sullivan. La mélodie et les arrangements de "Mind Control" ne sont en effet pas sans rappeler l'un des principaux hits de la jeune chanteuse révélée en 2008, "Bust Your Windows".
Logique, puisque derrière le "Mind Control" d'Hal Linton se cache le producteur de "Bust Your Windows", un certain Salaam Remi.
