En 1972, le Danemark présentait une population de 4,9 millions d’habitants dont 2,5% nécessitait une prise en charge audiologique. En 1971, 13 cliniques audiologiques ont appareillé 19 000 patients avec 27 000 aides auditives, dont 8 000 patients furent appareillés en stéréophonie. L’examen audiologique complet, l’adaptation d’une ou des deux aides auditives puis l’éducation ou le suivit prothétique est totalement gratuit pour les citoyens Danois quelque soit les revenus ou l’âge des patients. Le coût par patient s’élève à 200 $ (156 €), ce qui correspond a environ 4 à 5 jours dans un hôpital publique. Les patients peuvent demander si nécessaire un renouvellement après une période de 5 ans. En un an, seulement 18% (13 500) des aides auditives adaptées à Copenhague ont nécessité une réparation.

Denmark has a population of 4.9 mill. and about 2,5% are in need of audiological treatment. In the last year 13 audiology clinics have provided about 19.000 patients with 27.000 hearing aids, 8000 received binaural aids. The complete audiological examination, the fitting of one or two hearing aids and the pedagogical aftercare is free of charge for any Danish citizen regardless of age, income and fortune. The cost per person amounts to 200 dollars, which corresponds to 4-5 days stay in a public hospital. If necessary the patients may ask for another treatment after a period of 5 years. In one year only 18% (13.500) of the hearing aids in use in the Copenhagen district were in need of a repair.

Knapt 2 1/2% af befolkningen behøver audiologisk behandling, der ydes gennem 13 audiologiske klinikker, hvor der i ret 1969/70 blev behandlet ca. 19.000 patienter med i alt 27.000 høreapparater. Principielt før alle børn udleveret binaurale høreapparater, og det samme gløder fra 1963 for voksne, for s vidt de er fysisk og psykisk egnede dertil. Den audiologiske undersøgelse og tilpasningen med t eller to høreapparater, samt den pædagogiske efterbehandling er gratis for enhver dansk statsborger uanset alder, indkomst og formue. Omkostningerne pr. patient beregnes til ca. 1400 kr., hvilket svarer til 4-5 dages hospitalsophold. Ca. 18% af høreapparaterne kommer til reparation hvert r, hvilket vil sige, at hvert apparat i gennemsnit kommer til reparation hævert 5. r. Den audiologiske revalidering er derfor en relativt billig og effektiv behandling, der fuldt ud tåler sammenligning med anden lægelig og pædagogisk behandling.
