Idaho falls

Almost twenty years ago, I was driving from San Francisco to Bozeman Mt, the world was mine ! A friend of mine was moving there, to go to University. I decided I would be the driver, since I had never been to Montana before and that for me it was a sort of Xanadu where trouts, big as a leg, were jumping like crazy around you while you were fishing ! So we packed all her stuff in the car and I drove, and drove, and drove, Sacramento, Reno, then in the Nevada, where I wanted to stop at every gas station and try my luck at the slot machines. Finaly we made our 1rst night stop at Jackpot (I loooooove the name !!!) I roamed around the casino and won enough money to offer myself a decent sirloin steack for breakfast. Montana, here we come !!!. Then we drove to Pocatello, windows wide open, the cool air coming from the Rockies was upllifting us ! At one point I was so tired my eyes were burning me, the night was pitch black and as I was driving, I was attracted by the lights of the other cars, like fireflies to a lamp, so decided it was time to stop. IDAHO FALLS was written in white on the green roadsign. We HAD to go there ! I imagined myself as a french trapper going to town to sell its furs.. Cow-boys and Indians. I was, a bit…surprised…the town didn’t look at all like what I expected… but nevertheless, we slept in a nice hotel and the next morning we headed to « The Falls », and there I was, daydreaming I was there a centhury ago, and all that water was wild and the river would give me its best trouts ! So yesterday when I came accross the East Idaho Tying Expo program, all these imegaes came back to  me. I even remembered the view from the diner where we had our breakfast before heading to Yellowstone and then Bozeman. There I bought my first « serious rod » a Sage discovery series…what a laugh, I fished real waters for the first time in my life, caught my first BIG trout, and felt like a real Bozemanian instantly ! I wouldn’t mind going back to Idaho Falls again, and then hop to Montana to visit our friends from Moldy Chum or Fish Can’t Read !
