Our English genius, Louis La Roche back in early 2010 with his new "Super Soaker EP” release under the young label Ever After Records. It announces the release of his first album probably in March 2010 that will include a featuring of Yann Destal (singer from Modjo) for the track "My turn", which is eagerly awaited. We had already talked about Louis La Roche for his "Me and her" release, believing that he should show us other facets of his talent. So it’s quiet done with this "Super Soaker EP”, but also because recently he broadcast a remix of Gozillaz “Stylo” and a remix of Michael Jackson "Thriller" that you can download in the following  article.

Released mid January, "Super Soaker EP" consists of 3 tracks finally close to his previous productions. Brett Ewell aka Louis La Roche, thus taking the year 2010 always in “French touch” style, here with the addition of more funky samples.

"Malfunction" is very very close to the track "Peach" that he released at his beginning. The track adds a simple voice, without much originality, we must admit...
"Super Soaker" gives the real tone of this EP, with its funky vibe, which follows the movement launched by Armand Van Helden and A-Track for their track "Anyway" that we reviewed some weeks ago.
"Prick Stick" follows this second track, with a less dynamic beat but terribly effective and funky. 80s spirit is coming back. There are too a few samples taken from Michael Jackson tracks.

Overall, this is an EP quiet simple, but that offers us a nice surprise with "Prick Stick". We will wait for the release of his debut album, to really see what the young English artist Louis La Roche has really in his stomach....

Francaisnt en ce début d’année 2010 avec son « Super Soaker EP » pressé sur le jeune label Ever After Records. Cela annonce la sortie de son premier album sans doute en Mars, avec notamment un featuring de Yann Destal le chanteur de Modjo, pour le track « My turn », que l’on attend avec impatience. Par ailleurs, nous vous avions parlé de Louis La Roche à l’occasion de la sortie de son EP « Me and her » en estimant qu’il devait nous montrer d’autres facettes de son talent. C’est donc chose faite, avec ce « Super Soaker EP », mais aussi avec le remix de Gozillaz « Stylo » et de Michael Jackson « Thriller » que nous pouvez télécharger dans la suite de l’article.  01. Brett Ewells de son vrai nom, entame donc cette année 20 touches plus funky.

Ainsi, « Malfunction » est très très proche du titre « Peach » qui l’avait fait connaitre au même titre que « Love » qui avait buzzé sur Internet. Le track ajoute un vocal assez simple, sans grande originalité il faut bien l’avouer…
« Super Soaker » donne le ton de cet EP, avec sa touche funky si caractéristique, qui suit le mouvement lancé par Armand Van Helden et A-Track pour leur track « aNYway » que nous avions chroniqué.
« Prick Stick » suite ce second titre, avec un beat moins dynamique mais une ambiance terriblement efficace et tout aussi funky. On a l’impression de se retrouver dans les années 80. On reconnait même à certains moments quelques samples empruntés à Michael Jackson.

Globalement, c’est un EP encore assez simple, mais qui nous livre une belle surprise avec « Prick Stick ». Nous attendons donc la sortie de son premier album, pour vraiment voir ce que le jeune artiste anglais Louis La Roche a vraiment dans le ventre….
