Thomas Schnur, designer allemand habitué de BEDesign revient pour nous présenter Forest Chair, entre chaise et tabouret il propose de ré-interpréter l’utilisation du tronc d’arbre dans la création de mobilier.

« In forests and villages we encounter many utility objects crafted out of tree trunks. Usually the language of these elementary products is formed due to pragmatic reasons. To our industrial informed society these sylvan items often appear rough and solid but also idyllic and indigenous.
The structural handling, the transformation, the involvement of the symbolic power of these objects built the core process of developing the Forest Chair. «

Sa philosophie :
« In my projects I always attempt to negotiate with the product I am to design. I negotiate on the weighting of materials, manufacturing, appearance, meaning and function. I break down this task into its characteristics and meanings. I then analyze, assess and construct the idea. In this, it is important to me that despite their cross-references, the products, which are often created from familiar fragments, are able to development the greatest possible degree of autonomy. In this way, they allow for associations but, beyond this, develop their own potential for becoming autonomous products. »
