Publié chez Hachette en octobre 2012, l’Encyclopédie illustrée rédigée par David Day n’est pas le seul ouvrage de l’auteur sur Tolkien. Cependant ce livre-ci ne s’adresse qu’à un public averti et bien au courant du monde créé en entre 1910 et 1937 par ce génie qu’est Tolkien.
Pas de texte continu à lire mais bien un index alphabétique permettant de comprendre l’histoire de la Terre du Milieu, la géographie, les personnages, la culture, la faune, la flore, … soit plus de 500 définitions et explications vous permettant de mieux découvrir cet univers incroyable ! Et ce, sans compter les nombreuses cartes, arbres généalogiques, tableaux chronologiques, …
Le must ? De magnifiques gravures pour illustrer cet ouvrage !
Bref, un guide indispensable si vous voulez apprendre qui est Radagast ou si vous ne savez pas ce qu’est un Istari, le format encyclopédique n'étant absolument pas dérangeant !
Il ne me reste plus, dès lors, qu’à vous souhaiter bonne lecture !

Als je fan bent van Tolkien, je zal dit boek niet willen missen! Gepubliceerd door Hachette in oktober 2012, de Encyclopaedia geschreven door David Ray is niet het enige boek over Tolkien. Dit boek is echter uisluitend bestemd voor het belezen publiek dat goed goed bekend is met de wereld die het genie Tolkien tussen 1910 en 1937 creëerde. Geen onafgebroken tekst maar een alfabetische index, die je toestaat het verhaal te begrijpen.
De must ? Grootse graveerwerken om dit werkstuk te illustrerren !
Kortom, dit is een onontbeerlijk gids als je wil weten wie Radagast is of als je niet weet wat een Istari is. Het feit dat het gaat om een encyclopedisch formaat, hoeft helemaal geen beletsel te zijn!
