Gatsby le Magnifique, le film dont tout le monde parle et que j’attends impatiemment depuis l’été dernier, sort enfin au cinéma ce Vendredi aux US. New York a totalement suivi la tendance Gatsby : des collections spéciales en magasins, les affiches dans les transports, la presse, les billboards et, bien sûr, la grande première du film a eu lieu la semaine dernière au Lincoln Center. Très glamour ! Gatsby le Magnifique est-il LE film de l’année ? Ici, on ne cesse d’en entendre parler plusieurs fois par jour. J’adore mais ça m’inquiète aussi. Quand un film fait beaucoup trop de promo et me fait languir pendant des mois, je suis souvent déçue à sa sortie. Bien entendu, certains signes ne manquent pas de me rassurer : Leo, Carey, Toby et Joel sont des acteurs talentueux et Baz Luhrmann m’en a mis plein la vue avec Moulin Rouge et Roméo + Juliette, les vêtements et bijoux pour le film sont à tomber, et j’adore les années 20. Mais le signe le plus prometteur (qui m’a mis une de ces claques) est sans aucun doute : la B.O.
En vente cette semaine, la B.O. a été disponible pour écoute en ligne ici, et les artistes ont tous interprété leur single à la télé et radio ces dernières semaines. J’adore la reprise de Back to Black par Beyoncé, la version de Crazy in Love d’Emeli Sandé, le Over the Love de Florence and the Machine, sans oublier le Young and Beautiful de Lana del Rey et surtout le Love is the Drug de Bryan Ferry. Sans hésitation : je suis totalement in love de cet album et je ne peux m’empêcher de l’écouter. Le mélange de chansons modernes avec le son des années 20 est un joli succès. Que ce soit pour me réveiller, faire du sport, rester à la maison ou même pour faire le ménage, cet album est, pour moi, l’album de l’année !

The Great Gatsby, the movie that everyone is talking about and that I have been excited about since last summer, is finally hitting the theater this Friday. New Yorkhas been totally embracing the Great Gastby’s trend: special collection in stores, the ads are in all subway stations, bus stops, billboards, and, of course, the big premiere event that was held last week at the Lincoln Center was glamourous. Is the Great Gatsby the movie of the year? Well, for sure, we can’t stop hearing about it several times a day. I love it, but it gets me worried. Most of the time I see an insane amount of promoting for a movie, I get disappointed. The film doesn’t reach my expectations and I feel betrayed. Of course, I can reassure myself by believing all the signs: Leo, Carey, Toby & Joel are talented actors, and Baz Luhrmann blew me away with Moulin Rouge and Roméo + Juliet; the clothes and jewelry are to die for and I love the twenties. But the biggest sign among all are surely proof, a big smash on the face, I am talking about: the soundtrack!
Released early this week, the soundtrack has been available to listen to online here, and artists have been performing their songs on TV and radio these past weeks. I adore Beyonce’s cover of Back to Black, the version of Crazy in Love by Emeli Sandé, the Over the Love of Florence and the Machine, the Young and beautiful of Lana del Rey. None to say, I am OBSESSED and I can not stop listening to it. The album is a great success in mixing modern tunes and incorporating a feel of the music from the twenties. Whether it’s to wake up, to work out, to chill at home, or even to clean the house, this album is surely for me, my album of the year!
