Manchester – Chetham’s Library #2

Globe-T. @ Manchester (Royaume Uni). Fondée en 1653, Chetham’s Library est la plus ancienne bibliothèque publique du Royaume Uni. La bibliothèque réunit plus de      100 000 livres imprimés, dont 60 000 ont été publiés avant 1851. Karl Marx, qui vivait à Londres, venait régulièrement à Manchester. Au cours de l’été 1845, Marx et Friedrich Engels ont fait des recherches ensemble à la Chetham’s Library.

The Library holds over 100,000 volumes of printed books, of which 60,000 were published before 1851. Karl Marx, who lived in London, was a frequent visitor to Manchester, and in the summer of 1845 he and Friedrich Engels developed the habit of studying together at Chetham’s Library.
