"Poolside Glam" "A little bit of summer is what the whole year is all about." - John Mayer
Splash! Welcome to the Alanui swimming pool. Chit-chatting while soaking up the sun's rays is strictly recommended. As well as sipping some champagne and being just fabulous!
For Spring/Summer 2020, Alanui celebrates the most glamorous side of the summer season by taking inspiration from the wonderful pool scenes lensed around the world, from Acapulco and Miami to Saint Tropez and Capri, by legendary photographer Slim Aaron in the Sixties and the Seventies.
The highly glam poolside attitude translates into exquisite knitwear treatments reproducing the sunlight reflects gleaming on the water, as well as by precious embroideries and shimmering Lurex.
The translucent surface of the pool inspires a blend of special, lightweight yarns mixed with Japanese silk. Knitwear also gets the look of terrycloth, while a swimmer appears as a high-high-definition image on a luxurious Icon cardigan.
Charming light effects pop up on the lightweight wrap-around cardigans, micro tops matched with cycling shorts, as well as on the knitted pajama sets and silk slip dresses.
Alanui's ode to summer continues with a joyful jungle vibe, bringing flamboyant fun to the collection. The vibrant atmosphere of the rainforest is injected into the luxurious Icon cardigans, where zebra and jaguar stripes, multicolor parrots and lush foliage, as well as little monkeys, are rendered with intricate knitwear techniques, embroideries and prints. Expressing its love for Mother Earth, Alanui decided to donate some of the proceeds from the sales of these jungle-inspired cardigans to organizations protecting the Amazonian rainforest.
The tropical extravaganza also continued with fluid pajama sets and silk kimonos, sometimes punctuated by a cascade of plush feathers for a delicate, lively effect.
Seventies' silhouettes take center stage in the denim pieces, including flared pants and shorts matched with coordinated bralettes, which are splashed with fresh pink and turquoise tie-dye motifs.
Along with three new eye-catching straw hats embellished with feminine ribbons, with the Spring/Summer 2020 season, Alanui introduces its first range of pashmina scarves: high-end, versatile accessories enriched with all the motifs peppering the ready-to-wear collection.
For the Spring/Summer 2020 presentation, hosted on Sept. 22 at the Casa degli Atellani venue, the brand designed a special set up where sculptural straw vases stole the spotlight. The artful pieces were supplied by fair trade company Babatree, based in Ghana, which employees over hundred artisans, guaranteeing them a future through dignified work.
