AICA SOUTH CARIBBEAN ARCHIVES 4 : 37th AICA International Congress programm

Aica Caraïbe du Sud, une section  inter- régionale de l’Association internationale des critiques d’art, a récemment célébré son 20e anniversaire. Afin de valoriser les réalisations de l’organisation au cours des deux dernières décennies, nous compilons nos archives et mettons ces documents à votre disposition sur notre site Web. Le nombre de publications augmentera au cours des prochains mois, lorsque nous commencerons  à récupérer et à numériser ces publications.

En 1996, lors de la IIIe Biennale de peinture de Saint-Domingue, Dominique Brebion et Allison Thompson ont été invitées à fonder une section regroupant les critiques d’art de  la région. Allison Thompson, Alissandra Cummins et Nick Whittle avaient  été membres de l’AICA Puerto Rico;  Myrna Rodriquez et Haydee Venegas, membres de cette section ainsi que  Marianne de Tolentino de l’AICA République dominicaine nous ont guidés dans ce processus de création.

L’AICA Southern Caribbean a été officiellement approuvée lors du congrès annuel de l’AICA en Irlande du Nord l’année suivante. Le chapitre comprend maintenant des membres de  Barbade, de  Martinique, de Trinidad, de la Jamaïque, de Curaçao ainsi que des critiques  de la diaspora caribéenne.

AICA Southern Caribbean, a regional chapter of the International Association of Art Critics, recently celebrated its 20^th anniversary. To acknowledge the achievements of the organization over the past two decades, we are compiling an archive of documents and making these available through our website. This will grow over the coming months as we begin the work of retrieving and scanning these publications.

In 1996, at the Third Santo Domingo Biennial of Painting, Dominique Brebion and Allison Thompson were invited to establish a chapter of the organization that could bring together those individuals writing about art in the region. Thompson, along with Alissandra Cummins and Nick Whittle, had formerly been members of AICA Puerto Rico; members Myrna Rodriquez and Haydee Venegas along with Marianne de Tolentino from AICA Dominican Republic were formative in ushering us through this process.  AICA Southern Caribbean was formally approved at the AICA Annual Congress in Northern Ireland the following year.  The chapter now includes members from Barbados, Martinique, Trinidad, Jamaica, Curacao as well as writers in the wider Caribbean Diaspora.
