Une chronique de Vance
Un mois et 780 duels plus tard, 269 films se sont ajoutés à ce classement, présenté dans la chronique précédente. Le constat est toujours aussi délicieusement cruel : c’est parfois aisé de mettre en compétition deux films (entre the Matrix et Collateral Damage, il n’y a pas photo), parfois cela demande un peu plus de réflexion (ouh là, entre Platoon et Batman begins !) et il arrive que le dilemme soit atroce (toutes proportions gardées, mais j’avoue que choisir entre Incassable et Terminator 2, ça m’a filé des suées !). Bien entendu, on peut limiter les duels (par genre ou par année) et même revenir en arrière pour les annuler. Mais franchement, ils font la saveur du site et offrent une nouvelle perspective sur la façon d’envisager un film : à partir du moment où on compte sur le plaisir procuré ou l’émotion suscitée, il n’est pas étonnant de retrouver des perles comme Labyrinthe, Princess Bride ou Kramer contre Kramer au milieu de poids lourds du 7e Art.
Le Prestige semble curieusement indéboulonnable, mais Usual Suspects a doucement commencé à glisser vers un niveau plus conforme à mes penchants. La remontée (attendue) d’un Predator ou d’un T2 aura eu pour effet de faire descendre inopinément un Empire strikes back que je pensais intouchable.
