Non, cette chanson n'est pas le générique d'une fameuse émission de jeu TV qui Philippe Risoli présentera, en France, dans les années 90... ah ah ah, avouez que c'était facile, ça, hein ? Hum. Bon.
Jeopardy (qui signifie 'péril' en anglais) est une chanson d'un groupe très méconnu et, disons-le tout net, oublié; le Greg Kihn Band.
Le genre de groupe qu'on surnomme les one-shot, car un seul tube à leur actif. Un moment de gloire, et pouf, a-pu le groupe. Jeopardy, chanson pop, cartonnera vraiment dans les charts, le groupe vivra son quart d'heure de gloire avant de pouf, a-pu le groupe.

Jeopardy, entraînante, est une chanson efficace et très pop. Greg Kihn (chant et guitare) chante assez bien, malgré que certains pourront trouver sa voix un tantinet énervante (elle ne l'est pas autant que celle du chanteur de la chanson d'hier, n'est-ce pas ?).
Le groupe s'est formé en 1975, et avait déjà obtenu un petit succès avec une reprise d'une chanson de Springsteen, For You, que le Boss dira adorer.
Mais c'est Jeopardy, en 1983, qui assurera le succès mondial, éphémère, mais puissant. Une chanson pop, simple mais efficace, au refrain culte. Une chanson que j'adore, sinon je ne l'aurais jamais proposée dans ce cycle !
