Lulea tour, chapter 2. As I wrote in my post about Threatened Monkey, the guide is still Mattias Alkberg. Today, let's focus on Hamngatan, a band that was formed two years ago when the Lulea scene was full of rock/metal/hardcore bands (according to the band itself).
Hamngatan came over with their pop songs and started to play around. Pop? Yes, but closer to English bands like Franz Ferdinand or Futureheads than Swedish pop bands like the Cardigans or the Labrador Records one. I have not listened to enough songs of them to have a definite opinion about them, but I sure like their sound. Syncopated but melodic. Their debut albim is on its way and should be out in 2010. It could be a very good surprise.

Lulea, chapitre 2. Comme j'écrivais dans mon billet sur Threatened Monkey, le guide est toujours Mattias Alkberg. Aujourd'hui, concentrons-nous sur Hamngatan, un groupe créé il y a deux ans alors que la scène de Lulea était remplie de groupes de rock/metal/hardcore (si l'on en croit le groupe lui-même).
Hamngatan a débarqué avec ses chansons pop et a commencé à jouer par-ci par-là. Pop? Oui, mais plus proche de groupes anglais tels que Franz Ferdinand ou Futureheads que de combos suédois tels que les Cardigans ou ceux de Labrador Records. Je n'ai pas écouté suffisamment de morceaux pour avoir un avis définitif sur ce quintet, mais je suis plutôt séduit par leur son. Syncopé mais mélodique. Leur premier album est sur les rails et devrait sortir en 2010. Il pourrait être une agréable surprise.
