Keri hilson a été invitée au World Wrestling Entertainment’s WrestleMania XXVII pour intepréter devant 75 000 personnes l’hymne patriotique américain “America The Beautiful” au Georgia Dome d’Atlanta. Un honneur non négligeable, puisque ce sont des légendes telles Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin et Gladys Knight qui ont été invitées auparavant à chanter à cet événement. Keri Hilson was invited to perform the American patriotic anthem “America The Beautiful” at the the World Wrestling Entertainment’s WrestleMania XXVII at the Gerogia Dome in Atlanta. This was quite a honor given to Keri as previous performers at this event include legends such as Gladys Knight, Aretha Franklin and Ray Charles. So did Keri manage to hold her own in front of the 75.000 people in the audience? Check it out :

Saddly, I have to say this performance was quite flat and boring. It was pretty obvious Keri was a little too nervous and not comfortable enough to hit the right notes. There were too many shaky parts, except the high notes at the end. I guess singing in front of a crowd of 75.000 people could lead you to mess up, I got that, still this performance could have had a good impact in Keri’s career and status as a singer. Unfortunately, it will not be remembered, as there are countless performances of that very same song that are ten times better than this one. I still love Keri, but this  was not her best vocal performance at all.

Keri Hilson n’est pas vraiment connue pour ses prouesses vocales en live, et malheureusement avec cette prestation, ce n’est pas prêt de changer. Keri était bien trop nerveuse dans son interprétation, et sa prestation n’était clairement pas assez solide vocalement. La note aiguë à la fin est bien le seul moment fort de cette performance, ce qui est bien dommage puisque c’était l’occasion rêvée pour Keri de montrer ce dont elle est capable d’un point de vue vocal. Je suppose que chanter en face de 75 000 personnes n’est pas une mince affaire, et je comprends l’impact que cela peut avoir sur la qualité d’une prestation. Malheureusement, d’autres chanteuses ont fait beaucoup mieux dans les mêmes conditions, et cette prestation ne fait absolument pas le poids face aux dizaines d’autres prestations du même titre que l’on peut retrouver à différentes occasions. Ce n’était clairement pas sa meilleure prestation vocale.
