D.R.Congo-Cameroun: Lions Intensify TrainingDespite the fact that only 14 of the 21 players shortlisted honoured the rendezvous, the morale of the group is not shaken. Though the upcoming encounter with the Democratic Republic of Congo has no stakes for Cameroon, the Indomitable Lions are not treating the match with levity since it serves as a test match for the team under construction. Out of the 21 players called to camp, 14 have so far responded present but this has not sapped the moral of the group. Among the players present are Effala Konguep, Carlos Kameni, Nicolas Nkoulou, Gaetang Mbong, Jules Goda, Sebastien Bassong, Landry Nguemo, Sally Edgar, Choupo Mouting, Benjamin Moukandjo, Eyong Enoh, Kwekeu Leonie and Eric Djemba. Team captain Eto'o was expected to arrive in Brussels by a private jet later on Monday evening alongside Alexandre Song and Nounkeu. Their arrival will take to 17 the number of players who have responded positively to Javier Clemente's call. The cases of Ngako, Benoit Angbwa and Mbuta Matthew are still uncertain. Ngako is retained in Spain by his age old administrative problem while Mbuta is blocked in Romania since Friday, September 30, for lack of a visa to Belgium despite the intervention of the ambassador of Cameroon to Belgium to his counterpart in Bucharest. Benoit Angbwa on his part is sick and reported to the medical staff of the Indomitable Lions in Brussels. He is suffering from a torn muscle on the right leg and will have to be treated at Clairefontaine at the expense of his club. According top the team press officer, Linus Pascal Fouda, the first training session of the Lions at the Eigendom communal stadium in Brussels was witnessed by Cameroon's ambassador to Belgium and the Benelux countries, Evina Abe'e Daniel and many other officials of the embassy. Yesterday the Lions had two training session at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Belgian time, that is, 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Cameroon time. Their departure for Kinshasa today was scheduled at 10.45 a.m. As earlier mentioned, the Lions will take up residence at the Memling hotel in Kinshasa and will grant a pre-match press conference on Thursday at 11 a.m. The match takes place on Friday October 7 at the Martyrs stadium in Kinshasa. After the encounter, the Lions will have a friendly match against the Nzalang National of Equatorial Guinea in Malabo on October 11.
