Aujourd'hui on vous fait découvrir le label prometteur Salin records, co-fondé il y a un an par Daria et Christophe Salin afin de promouvoir la variété de la House musique.
Côté actu, leur prochain EP 'Beyond the Salty Island " sortira le vendredi 26 Octobre et a pour mission de valoriser la diversité de la House au travers d'un voyage où quatre artistes de nationalité différente ont pu s'exprimer. Vous y trouverez donc Sable Blanc from France et sa track " Gentle Washing ", Christophe Salin d'Allemagne et sa track " I want to love you 2 ", Gledd d'Italie avec la track " More times " et enfin Eddi Skhiper avec " Magika " pour clôturer cet EP en beauté. [Interview in english right bellow]Est-ce que vous pouvez parler de la genèse du label ?
Daria: Christophe et moi avons toujours été lié par une même passion pour l'art et la musique. Il a le background musique et moi c'est l'art visuel. A un moment il nous a paru très naturel de partager notre travail. Le label [NDLR: Salin records] était le support parfait pour ça. Sortir à la fois une musique en laquelle on croit avec mes peintures et mes dessins c'est vraiment top.
Pourquoi ce nom de Salin Records?
Christophe: L'idée de Salin Records et de la marque Salin vient des plages Salin. C'est là que Daria s'est inspiré pour sa toute première peinture. Son nom d'artiste Daria Salin était né puis ça a continué avec Christophe Salin et enfin Salin Records.
Vous gérez le label à deux c'est ça? Est-ce que vous pourriez vous présenter à nos lecteurs? Est-ce que c'est difficile de bosser en couple parfois?
Daria: Oui on a lancé le label à deux et on bosse toujours à deux. Ca peut-être parfois difficile de bosser avec la personne avec qui tu vis parce que la maison devient un deuxième bureau. Malgré tout j'adore bosser avec Christophe et on a presque toujours la même façon de voir les choses et les mêmes exigences. On prend toute les décisions ensemble et même sur les sujets créatifs on peut toujours compter sur un avis sincère de l'autre et son soutien.
Christophe: Travailler en couple peut être assez éprouvant. Daria est hyper honnête et n'y va pas par quatre chemins quand elle me fait un retour sur une nouvelle track. Je suis toujours reconnaissant quand elle me fait ces retours. Elle a des supers goûts musicaux et est très intuitive. Mais si son avis est négatif ça peut être très frustrant et faut quand même passer toute l'aprem tous les deux. Hahaha
Quel est l'ADN de ce label?
Christophe: Je pense que c'est avant tout des tracks qui racontent des histoires et qui portent des émotions. Pour nous le rendu qualitatif est aussi un élément très important qu'on garde à l'esprit.
Doria: Pour moi c'est aussi un ressenti positif. Avec la musique et l'art visuel on se penche sur la beauté de ce monde. Même si c'est parfois mélancolique... C'est toujours plein d'espoir.
Comment vous voyez votre label dans 10 ans?
Christophe: Comme un label bien installé avec une grande famille. Si tout roule, on louera une maison en Provence et on invitera les artistes signés chez nous - Qui j'espère seront aussi de bons potes - pour notre dixième anniversaire. On passera le week-end tous ensemble en parlant du bon vieux temps.
Daria: Comme un label dont t'achètes les sorties sans même écouter parce que tu sais que ce sera du bon. Et on fera un vernissage avec toutes les peintures qui auront servies pour les pochettes des 10 dernières années.
De quels autres labels vous sentez vous proches?
Christophe: D.ko et Church sont carrément des label dont j'achète les sorties sans même écouter! Et on apprécie vraiment le très serieux label Pont Neuf sur lequel notre grand pote et artiste Tour Maubourg est signé.
Quelle était votre première sortie?
Daria: Notre première release n'était que sur bandcamp. Ça s'appelle "Jam Sessions" de Christophe Salin.
Sur vinyle on a commencé avec l'EP "Sweet Memories", le premier d'une série de 3 Ep de Christophe Salin. ( à écouter là ).
Parlez nous de la prochaine release du label " Beyond Salty island "
Christophe: Le 26 octobre on sort le premier EP Multi-artiste sur Salin records qui s'appellera "Beyond Salty Island". Pour la première fois on franchi les murs de la maison et on inclut d'autres artistes. Avec Sable Blanc, Gledd et Eddi Shkiper on a essayé de faire un EP qui représente toute la diversité de la musique House.
Si le label était un Cocktail ce serait quoi?
Daria: Un Daiquiri en bonne et due forme, frais et classique à la fois.
Could you tell us how the label is born ?
Daria: A passion for art and music has always connected Christophe and me. He has a musical background and I am a visual artist. At a certain point it was just natural for us to share our work with the world. The label gives us the perfect opportunity for this. Releasing music we believe in combined with my paintings and graphics is wonderful.
Why is it called Salin Records ?
Christophe: The idea of Salin Records and Salin as the brand came up on the Salin beaches. Daria found the inspiration for her very first painting there. The artist name Daria Salin was born and the story continued with Christophe Salin and Salin Records.
You are two as a couple to manage it right? Can you introduce you to our readers? Isn't it difficult sometimes to work as a couple?
Daria: Yes, we founded the label together and work as a couple. Sometimes it can be difficult to work with the partner at home as you never leave the ‚office'. Anyway, I love to work with Christophe as we nearly always have the same view on things and we both have a high expectation of our work. We take all decisions together and even when it comes to our creative work we can always rely on an honest feedback and support.
Christophe: To work as a couple is sometimes challenging. Daria is very honest and comes straight to the point regarding the feedback on new tracks I am working on. I am always very thankful for Darias opinion. She has a very good taste of music and a good intuition. But if her thoughts about my track are negative it can be very frustrating and still you have to spend the evening together. Hahaha...
What is the DNA of the label?
Christophe: I think it is about tracks that are telling stories and transport emotions. Fine quality is an important element and a high goal for us. We work closely with the artists and share studio experiences with them. Finally we have a great team behind us with Mathieu Berthet for the mastering, R.A.N.D. Muzik as the pressing plant and Shite Music for the distribution.
Daria: For me it's also the positive feeling. With both the music and the visual art we focus on the beauty in our world. Even if it is sometimes melancholic..., it's always full of hope.
How do you imagine the label in 10 years?
Christophe: As an established label with a big label family. If everything works well, we will rent a house in the Provence and invite the label artists - which hopefully became good friends - to our 10th anniversary. We will spend a weekend together and talk about the good old days.
Daria: To be a label whose releases you buy without having listened to it as you know it will be good. And we will plan a Vernissage with all original paintings which were used as vinyl covers during the past 10 years.
With which other labels do u feel close ?
Christophe: D.ko and Church are such labels whose records I would buy without having listened to it. And we really like the very professional label Pont Neuf on which also our high respected friend Tour Maubourg releases his music.
What was the first release of the label ?
Daria: The first release was a bandcamp only release. It is called „Jam Sessions" by Christophe Salin ( https://salinrecords.bandcamp.com/album/jam-sessions ).

Something to say about your new release ?
Christophe: On the 26th October there will be the first Various Artists EP on Salin Records which is called „Beyond Salty Island" EP ( https://salinrecords.bandcamp.com/album/v-a-beyond-salty-island-ep ). For the first time we go beyond our home boundaries and release music by other artists. Together with Sable Blanc, Gledd and Eddi Shkiper we created a beautiful EP which shows the diversity of House Music.
If the label was a cocktail what would it be?
Daria: A Daiquiri in its purest form, fresh and classic at the same time.
