L’avis des autres: Rhéa

Pas encore de blog pour Rhéa qui y pense pourtant; elle qui aurait tant de voyages à nous faire partager, tant de photos, tant de mots à nous dire, dotée d’une polyglossie qui lui ouvre les portes du monde et la renvoie sans cesse à sa terre natale, le Liban. De sa voix douce, elle aime parler de son pays, faire rêver à une diversité culturelle qu’elle retrouve à Londres et accepte de compléter le questionnaire de Mind Le Gap. Avec générosité, elle recommande le tout récent ouvrage du photographe Clément Tannouri, Sur la Terre comme au Ciel, une prière en images pour un pays magnifique. Merci Rhéa pour tout.

Rhéa doesn’t run any blog at the moment ; she is just thinking about it. She would have so many trips to share with us, so many pictures to show us, so many things to tell us about. Rhéa maybe doesn’t know which language to use, as her cultural background just allows her to choose; that’s probably why she suggests we contemplate the recent book, Sur la Terre comme au Ciel by photographer Clément Tannouri. With her sweet voice, Rhéa loves to talk about Lebanon, to let us dream about this cultural diversity, Beirut and London share. Thanks Rhéa for everything.

8. Pourquoi être venu au Royaume-Uni ?
I graduated in Edimburgh and then moved to London.

9. Depuis combien de temps vivez-vous au Royaume-Uni ?
Close to 6 years already.

10. Après tout ce temps, le Royaume-Uni, port d’attache ou simple escale ?
Still in transit, let’s say a long transit.

11. Angleterre, Grande-Bretagne, Royaume-Uni, U.K : vous vous en sortez ?
Je préfère l’appeler « l’île » en français et surtout en période de « volcano ash cloud », sinon je me perds entre toutes les appellations,  un vrai bordel.

12. Rêvez-vous en anglais ou en français ?
Français encore et toujours.

13. Radio / télévision, anglaises ou françaises ?
Je me suis mise à la radio anglaise, et pour sûr la télévision française – petit clin d’œil aux émissions de Canal+ et en particulier le petit journal.

14. Un ou deux mots, une expression que vous aimez particulièrement en anglais. Pourquoi (facultatif) ?
Super – I tend to place it a lot in French and English in everything.
Super cool – super this super that.

15. Pour le plaisir, la même question dans une autre langue de votre choix.
Ah on this one there is 2 :
“Olala” that I use in everything again and « Hi, Kiffak ? ca va ? » which means Hi, how are you in english and how are you in french -   very commonly used in Lebanon. This sentence pure illustration of lebanese culture and unique way to speak always in 3 languages.

16. Café, croissant, baguette ou english breakfast ?
Baguueeetttee  et un bon capuccino pour se réveiller en arrivant au travail.

17. Jambon-beurre ou fish and ships?
Jambon-Beurre Forever.

18. Fromage et dessert ou dessert et fromage ?
Fromage et dessert – et dessert fromagé type cheese-cake yummy!

19. La jelly, rouge, jaune ou verte ?
Red and a good big piece of it that shakes a lot.

20. Pub ou restaurant ?
Pub in the UK  – restaurant/ brasseries in France.

21. Quelque chose d’anglais dont vous ne vous passeriez plus
Fresh milk everywhere.

22. Ce à quoi vous ne vous ferez jamais
Drunk girls to death in cold street in mini skirts and small tops.

23. Ce que vous ramenez systématiquement de France
Cheese, fresh warm crusty baguettes, savon de Marseille.

Nearly every 2 months.

25. Eurostar, Eurotunnel, ferry ou avion ?
Eurostar c’est tellement pratique pour Paris, sinon pour Nice pas le choix, l’avion.

Even if I am not Parisian I would certainly go for the Eiffel Tower.

27. Londres ou Paris ?
London to Live, Paris for tourism. London is so vibrant.

28. Royauté ou République ?
Republic for governance, Royaute for the Princes cute faces.

29. God save the Queen ou la Marseillaise ?
La marseillaise, I still remember how I learned it by heart, when and how much it was a struggle.

30. Mini ou 2CV ?
MINI however I would like to add to the list my little Fiat 500.

31. Conduite à gauche ou à droite ?
Both – english driving in automatic though.

32. Réserve anglaise ou franc jeu à la française ?
Franc jeu à la française, ça surprend les Anglais mais en même temps faut un peu les secouer les British.

33. Humour anglais ou humour français ?
English humour – I love sarcasms.

34. Roland Garros ou Wimbledon ?
Roland Garros to watch a game in central court, Wimbledon to stay in the park and have a picnic and drinks.

Ah la je passe …

36. Une bonne raison de rester au Royaume-Uni
The cultural melting –pot and friends.

37. Une bonne raison de quitter le pays
The weather, coming from Nice and Beirut it is sometimes hard.

38. Un endroit à ne pas rater en Grande-Bretagne
New forest, just have been there last weekend and it is beautiful – worth going if you feel mother nature calling.

The tube ! « mind le gap between the train and the platform ».

Yes Georges –reference to Georges Clooney and my little Nespresso machine getting out amazing coffee. Pour les amateurs goutez le Dulsao De Bazil (jaune clair) un régal!
